Details : Green Lake Trek is one region very few trekkers have visited before. The trek to Green Lakes , the base camp of Mount Khanchendzonga on the Zemu Galcier in North Sikkim is a splendid walk with the variety of flowers like rhododendrons , blue poppies and primulas all in bloom. The mountain views are fantastic with amphitheater of peaks with Khanchendzonga at the head of the valley.

TOUR PROGRAME

 

Day 01:         Arrive Delhi

Welcome to India- a country where hospitality is a way of life ; to a culture steeped in tradition, a land where history lives in music and dance. You will be received at the airport in a traditional manner with garlands and proceed to your hotel for overnight stay.

 

Day 02:         Delhi – Bagdogra - Gangtok                                                               

Morning after breakfast transfer to domestic airport to board flight for Bagdogra. Met upon arrival and proceed for lunch at local restaurant. After lunch drive to Gangtok. Upon arrival check into hotel for overnight stay.

 

Day 03:         Gangtok - Zema                                                                 

Morning after breakfast drive down to reach Zema (2728 mt) .The total drive takes 7 -8 hrs. Upon arrival setup the camp for overnight stay.

 

Day 04:        Zema - Talem                                                                      

Morning after breakfast start your trek to Talem (3468 mt) 5-6 hours walk along the Zemu River towards west. The going in this section is usually slow as the path travels through water logged Rhododendron thickets and fallen tree trunks. 

 

Arrive and setup the camp for overnight stay

 

Day 05:        Talem - Jakthang                                                            

Trek to Jakthang (3176 mt). Today the  trail enters some of the most magnificent forest areas for which Sikkim is famous. Cross a bridge to climb steadily through forest to Shobuk. The trail then descends steeply for 12 kms to Jakthang, a small clearing in the forest. 

 

Arrive and setup the camp for overnight stay.

 

Day 06:         Jakthang - Yabuk                                                           

Start your trek to Yabuk (3978 mt). The trail continues through forest on this day. After a short climb it crosses a bridge over Thombak Chu. There are several ascents and descends on the route, and is often wiped out of floods. Later we descend towards the bank of the Zemu Chu and follow the trail beside the river. After a tiring 8 kms day walk we reach the camping ground of Yabuk. Yabuk is a small but beautiful camping area.

Day 07:         Yabuk – Rwst Camp                                                          

Trek to Rest Camp (4570 mt). From Yabuk the trail enters the moraine field of the Zemu Glacier, crossing boulders and pebbles. It is a tiring route with increasing altitude and is like a walk in high altitude desert; though on later part one is rewarded with magnificent views of mountain peaks like Siniolchu and Simvu. At times one can also view Kangchenjunga rising in the distance. After a 6 kms walk we reach Rest camp at the mouth of Lhonak valley.

 

Arrive and setup the camp for overnight stay.

 

Day 08:         Rest Camp – Green Lake                                     

Moring after breakfast trek to Green Lake (5050 mt).The trail from Rest Camp climbs gently up the valley for about three to four hours.. This is one of the finest walks with the Siniolchu, Simvo, Twins and the Khangchendzonga are some of the giants that dominate the horizon.Known as the Green Lake Plain, the name being derived from a small tarn at the eastern end where on clear morning the reflection of the Khangchendzonga is seen in the waters.

Day 09:         Green Lake                                                                        

Rest Day for sightseeing at Green Lake. Spend the day lazing in the sun watching the panoramic view of the Great mountains of Sikkim.  Climb for about an hour or so to the hill behind the Green Lake one will come to a high point where you will get the grandest view of the Mt Khangchendzonga divide and the distant Mt Chomolhari in Bhutan.

 

Day 10:         Green Lale – Yabuk                                                       

Morning after breakfast trek back to Yabuk. Arrive and setup the camp for overnight stay

 

Day 11:         Yabuk - Talem                                                                   

Morning after breakfast trek back to Talem. Arrive and setup the camp for overnight stay.

 

Day 12:         Talem – Zema -  Gangtok                                              

Morning after breakfast trek back to Zema and then drive back to Gangtok. Upon arrival check into hotel  for overnight stay.

 

Day 13:           Gangtok - Darjeeling                                      

                         

Morning after breakfast drive down to reach Darjeeling. Upon arrival check in at hotel . In the afternoon proceed for Toy Train Ride and visit some Tea Garden en route.

 

Post sightseeing return to hotel for overnight stay.

 

Day 14:          Darjeeling – Delhi                                            

Morning after early breakfast leave for Bagdogra airport. Arrive Bagdogra and board flight for Delhi. Meet upon arrival at Delhi airport and  transfer to international airport to board flight for onward destination

                 

 

Day 15:          Delhi Depart                                                      

After breakfast went to IMF office for some formalities and rest of day free. Later in the day  Departure transfer to International airport to board flight for onward destination.

  • All Transportation in Delhi by AC vehicle as per Itinerary
  • Transportation by tempo traveler or similar in Mountain areas as per the program.
  • One English Speaking Escort to remain with the team and also escort them up to Base Camp
  • Complete kitchen and camp equipments including camp staff till base camp. It is recommended that clients bring their own sleeping bags.
  • Transportation of Members’ luggage maximum 40 Kgs per person up to base Camp.

  • Personal clothing and gears required for climbing
  • High altitude food (Above Base Camp)
  • Any High altitude potter
  • Any airfare (Domestic and International)
  • Personal expenses such as table drinks, room’s services items, laundry, telephone calls at hotels or tip etc.
  • Camera Fees.
  • Any additional expenses caused by or liability for disturbance in trip program due to or circumstances, weather conditions, sickness, natural disasters, riots etc.
  • Liability for or insurance against injury, loss of life, accidents or loss of goods. Camera Fees.
  • Any Cargo and Shipment Charges (Import and Custom Clearance) Personal Belongings such as Sleeping Bags, walking sticks etc.

NOTE:

  1. Above cost is valid till Oct 2016
  2. Above cost will not applicable if there will be a major change in INR to Euro exchange rate.
  3. Please ensure that your members are covered under Insurance as per your Govt Rules

 

Please ensure your insurance covers you for the heights you are likely to attain and for helicopter rescue as well. When you have chosen and booked your insurance, please provide SHIKHAR TRAVELS with your Insurers name, their 24 hour emergency telephone number and your Policy number with them.

 

Remember, your insurance is not worth the paper it's written on if we don't know the details and you need their assistance.
